Educational Workshop

Speaker: Kristy Rodriguez
Kristy Rodriguez was born and raised in Ontario, Oregon. She is the Executive Director of the Housing Authority of Malheur & Harney Counties and has been with the agency for more than 11 years.
She began her journey with the Housing Authority in 2012 as a single mother out of college living in public housing. She started as the front desk receptionist for the
agency and then became the Housing Choice Voucher Program, Family Self-Sufficiency, and Homeownership program manager. In 2018, she was appointed as the Interim Executive Director for the agency, and a year later became the Executive Director.
Kristy is mission-driven to ensure that everyone should have a place to call home and be motivated to become self-sufficient. She has made housing, homelessness, and advocacy for rural counties her primary focus.
Kristy currently serves on her local Treasure Valley Rental Association Board, is Chair of the MAC/LPG for both Malheur and Harney Counties and is the treasurer for the Housing Oregon Board of Commissioners. She currently serves on the Minority, Women Owned, Emerging Small Business Committee at OHCS.

Come and see the resources available for Landlords and Tenants. Be taught about the new housing requirements necessary to partake in the community programs.
The Housing Authority of Malheur & Harney Counties, Community in Action, and Oregon Human Development Corporation will be here to present what our agencies provide for services in Malheur County. The Housing Authority will go over our Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program as well as our Family Unification Program and requirements. The Housing Authority will also briefly cover the new requirements for inspection as we are transitioning over to NSPIRE Standards which stands for National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate.
We will also be able to answer any questions landlords may have for our agency. Community in Action will be presenting on the programs and services that they have to offer to the community such as weatherization programs, rental assistance, and classes for those interested in homeownership. They will also be able to answer any questions landlords may have for their agency.
Oregon Human Development Corporation will be presenting on their programs and services offered to the community such as rental assistance, job training, and agriculture farmworker assistance. They will also be able to answer any questions landlords may have for their agency.
